ROLE PURPOSE & PRINCIPLES

The Category Manager provides syndicated and internal data analysis and resulting insights to support category growth for assigned operating group(s) or key retail customer(s). Tracks and reports on tactical elements of category plans at national or customer level and on total category and brand performance.

CRITICAL RESULTS

Provide analysis and insights to drive business decisions for brands
Provide analysis and insights for customers
Interface with customers and position CPG client as a trustworthy advisor and partner

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Establish CPG client as a trusted advisor by developing customer-specific strategic category plans and category reviews
Providing analysis with resultant insights to customize category business plans including tactical elements, and routinely visit and present to customers
Proactively improving CPG CLIENT product positioning and space allocation through POG work using 3rd party planogram specialist
Tracking and reporting on tactical elements of category plans at customer level
Collaborate internally with brand and sales teams to develop category/business reviews, and major program and innovation sales decks
Analyze and assess category/customer/channel ‘state of the business’ using developed tools or building new tools and models as needed
Contribute to category management presentations for senior leadership within CPG client

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.), AC Nielsen Workstation Plus, and Space Management software
  • 5 years of CPG experience
  • Strong analytical, communication (oral and written),and collaboration skills
  • Ability to multi task and effectively manage multiple projects
  • Strong understanding of syndicated and panel data; integration and understanding of retailer objectives.
  • Previous direct experience presenting to retail accounts and implementing category solutions.
  • Knowledge of internal sales, and trade objectives.
  • Creative thinking to solve complex business issues
